There is no denying the existence of the Marriage Industrial Complex: The Caribbean bachelorette parties! The $8,000 dresses! The insane amount of flowers! But a sister industry has sprung up of late—one that treats divorce as a major milestone worth celebrating ... with the same money-spending opportunities as weddings have. The Huffington Post shares six:
- Divorcee parties: These aren't just too-many-cocktails nights on the town. The bachelorette-esque events have been known to feature black veils (the ultimate anti-wedding accessory) and "Just Divorced" sashes.
- Divorce registry: So you didn't walk away with the coffeemaker—or the coffee cups. British department store Debenhams recognizes there are a lot of things the newly single may need, and is offering them a way to register for those items.
- Divorce photography: Your union was a Kodak moment—now your split can be, too, thanks to photographers who are capturing couples' final moments together, and turning them into his-and-hers divorce albums.
