(YouTube) The Saudi woman who made international headlines by driving in a YouTube video survived the car crash that was widely reported to have killed her, reports the Guardian. Media reports had said Manal al-Sherif died instantly, but Sherif tells the Guardian that it was instead an unnamed female companion who died in the wreck. It's not clear who was driving. Sherif was detained for 10 days last year following the video; she was reportedly released early after signing a document saying she would stop driving.
