Another ceasefire is about to start in Israel and Gaza, but this one is expected to last a few days instead of a few hours. The US and UN announced that "all parties" had agreed to the humanitarian ceasefire, which is to begin at 8am tomorrow local time and last 72 hours—unless international negotiators manage to extend it, reports AP. The development comes as the Palestinian death toll climbed above 1,400, which the Guardian says is more than the previous two Israel-Hamas conflicts combined. The vast majority of victims have been civilians. It wasn't immediately clear whether Israel would continue to destroy tunnels used by Hamas to launch attacks over the three-day lull.
